History / Other:
1. “This photo was taken in the late 1960s at Kwun Tong Police Station. Physically little has changed as of now (2014). Main compound for police vehicles and personnel (numbers could exceed 160 if a full IS Company comes to visit!). Ground floor windows are all staff offices…above floors are Police officers' accommodation. It now operates as Kwun Tong District Police Station.” Ian Marriott
2. “This photo, taken circa 1968/69 shows the ‘front’ of the Kwun Tong Divisional Police Station. It only opened for ‘service’ a few years earlier. Members of the public walked through a single metal gate in the perimeter wall and could enter the Station at the entrance at bottom right to gain access to the ’24 hour’ Report Room. The Report Room was housed inside the ‘grille-faced’ structure – right of center in the picture. On the roof-top is the flagpole and ‘Union Flag’. The United Kingdom flag was flown until 30 June 1997 at which time the Chinese flag was flown. The building today (2014) is ‘blue and white’, with a few structural additions(mainly of a security nature but much the same generally).” Ian Marriott
